Chapter 1 : The Man Who Hated Love

Three Years Earlier...

Mumbai never slept.

Its skyline glittered beneath the morning sun, while thousands of people rushed toward another busy day.

On the top floor of the towering Malhotra Group headquarters, silence ruled.

Floor-to-ceiling windows overlooked the city.

A man stood alone.

Perfectly tailored black suit,Luxury watch, Broad shoulders,Jet-black hair, Sharp jawline, Dark eyes colder than winter.

Arjun Malhotra.

Twenty-nine years old.

Youngest billionaire CEO in India.

Most powerful businessman under thirty.

And according to almost every magazine...

The man who hated love.

His phone vibrated.

Unknown Number.

He stared at it for a long moment before answering.

"What?"

A woman's trembling voice echoed through the speaker.

"Arjun... it's me."

His face remained unreadable.

"I changed my number because I knew you blocked me."

"You've wasted your time."

"Please... just listen once."

"I have a meeting."

"You once said you'd never leave me."

A long silence followed.

Then Arjun laughed.

Not happily.

Bitterly.

"People also promise to love forever."

He ended the call.

Blocked the number.

Deleted the contact.

Without hesitation.

A soft knock interrupted the silence.

Kabir, his assistant, entered carefully.

"Sir... everyone is waiting."

Arjun picked up his coat.

"They can wait another minute."

Kabir nodded.

He had worked for Arjun for four years.

Even now...

He had never seen the man smile.

The boardroom became completely silent the moment Arjun walked inside.

Twenty executives immediately stood.

"Good morning, sir."

He didn't answer.

He simply took his seat.

"Begin."

The finance director nervously opened the presentation.

"Our quarterly profits increased by eighteen percent."

Arjun remained expressionless.

"But..."

Every face stiffened.

"But?"

"The new design department requested more time for the project."

"And?"

"It delayed the launch by four days."

Arjun leaned back.

"How much?"

"Twenty-three lakh rupees."

Silence.

The director swallowed nervously.

Arjun closed the file.

"Fire the department head."

The room froze.

One executive gathered enough courage to speak.

"Sir... she joined only last week."

Arjun's gaze met his.

"I pay employees to solve problems."

Not create them."

No one spoke again.

The meeting ended ten minutes later.

Every executive released the breath they'd been holding.

One whispered to another,

"I told you."

"The Ice King."

Across the city...

Aradhya Sharma hurried through the crowded streets, clutching a leather folder tightly against her chest.

Twenty-three years old.

A talented interior designer.

Dreamer , Optimist. And the only person supporting her widowed mother after her father's death.

She couldn't afford to fail today.

Her best friend Riya called.

"Have you reached?"

"I'm almost there."

"You're really joining Malhotra Group?"

Aradhya smiled.

"If they hire me."

"People say the CEO is terrifying."

"I've met difficult people before."

"Not like him."

Aradhya laughed.

"He can't be that bad."

Fate had a strange sense of humor.

The massive glass doors of Malhotra Group opened automatically.

Everything inside screamed luxury.

Marble floors , Crystal chandeliers , Employees dressed in expensive suits.

Aradhya took a deep breath.

"I can do this."

She collected her visitor pass and hurried toward the elevator.

Just then...

Someone called her name.

"Miss Sharma!"

She turned.

"The HR manager asked for these files."

"Oh! Thank you."

She balanced the files, her handbag, and a cup of hot coffee.

The elevator doors opened.

At the same moment...

Another elevator opened opposite hers.

Every employee instantly stepped aside.

The atmosphere changed.

Conversations stopped.

Even security guards stood straighter.

Someone whispered,

"He's here."

Aradhya looked up.

A tall man walked toward her with calm, measured steps.

His black suit looked as if it had been tailored to perfection.

His expression revealed nothing.

No smile, No warmth.

Only quiet authority.

She didn't know who he was.

She took one hurried step.

Her heel slipped on the freshly polished marble floor.

"Oh no—!"

The coffee flew from her hand.

Time seemed to stop.

Hot coffee splashed across the front of the man's expensive black suit.

The entire lobby fell silent.

Not a single person breathed.

Aradhya slowly raised her eyes.

The man looked down at the stain.

Then back at her.

His dark eyes held no anger.

That was somehow even more frightening.

An employee whispered,

"She's dead."

Another closed his eyes.

"Poor girl..."

Aradhya's heart hammered against her chest.

"I'm... I'm so sorry."

Arjun remained silent.

Five long seconds passed.

Then he spoke.

His voice was low.

Cold.

Controlled.

"You've just made the biggest mistake of your life."

Every employee waited for her to cry.

Instead...

Aradhya lifted her chin.

"I'm sorry about your suit."

She swallowed.

"But staring at me won't clean it."

The lobby froze.

Kabir's eyes widened.

An executive nearly dropped his tablet.

No one...

No one had ever spoken to Arjun Malhotra like that.

For the first time in years...

Something almost invisible flickered in Arjun's eyes.

Not anger.

Not amusement.

Curiosity.

He looked at the fearless young woman standing before him.

Without another word...

He walked past her.

Leaving everyone stunned.

Aradhya exhaled the breath she didn't realize she'd been holding.

She had no idea...

That this accidental meeting would change both of their lives forever.
